49 - ILLEGAL OPERATION (G68/G69)(M series)

We came across this error message after a control board was replaced during shutdown. Fanuc had updated the control software which actually was the root cause.

The alarm was due to using G54-G59 AFTER the plain conversion used for the right-angle head was enacted. We typically included the G54-G59 on all movements to prevent jumping in code under the incorrect modal address.

Removing the G54-G59 codes stopped the alarm without any adverse affects. After cancelling the plain conversion G69, the G54-G59 codes can be used as normal.
